My interest in South Africa dates back to my “French 3” class, freshman year of high school. The program in Cape Town was also a chance to explore my interests in the fields of public health and community development. While both of these were emphasized through our work in the classroom, we also got hands-on experience by doing weekly service work and research in the township of Khayelitsha.
