My first few days in Madrid were amazing in a personal and social way, but I learned an amazing amount of information in the four-day orientation and consider it one of the most academically significant overseas experiences that I had.

During Autmn and Winter Quarter 2008-09, Professor Tamar Herzog, Department of History, will become Stanford’s Faculty-in-Residence in Madrid. During Spring Quarter 2008-09, Professor Lisa Surwillo, Department of Spanish and Portuguese, will serve as the Faculty-in-Residence.

The Madrid Focus

The Bing Overseas Studies Program launched its Madrid program during Winter Quarter 2007-2008, with the official inauguration celebrated on May 30, 2008. Located in Europe’s third-largest city, the Madrid program aims to give Stanford students a unique academic, cultural and linguistic introduction to Spain. The focus is on linguistic rigor, cultural authenticity, academic discipline and personal attention.
