Additionally, we highly recommend that you schedule to meet with a BOSP Program Advisor to learn more about an individual program(s) and to discuss factors that might influence your decision, as well as, schedule to meet with a BOSP Student Ambassador for a first-hand account of their study away experience on a particular program - get your questions answered, concerns addressed, learn more about daily life, courses, internships, faculty, lodging, meals, cultural immersion and more.

    Stanford’s program in Australian Coastal Studies offers a unique opportunity to learn about Australian culture while studying the enormous diversity of coral reefs and rainforests. This program is ideal for students interested in environmental and ecological science and policy.

    The China Studies in Beijing program will provide students with a fundamental understanding of China’s role in the global system and the various factors that brought the country to where it is today.

    The Cape Town program enables students to learn about the city and its achievements and challenges in numerous ways. Activities are aimed at helping students achieve a deep understanding and appreciation of the city, the wider Western Cape region, and South Africa in general.

    This course will explore critical themes in the area of sustainability, namely global and local perspectives, urban sustainability, indigenous views on sustainability and conservation.

The location will provide students with exposure to courses within the social sciences and China Studies, as well as integration into Hong Kong university life.

    At heart even though the central objective of the course is simply to introduce students to the study of African cities through an experientially meaningful way using the example of Accra as a case study, in reality the main interest is to expose students to something more subtle and complicated.

    The Santiago program offers students a unique encounter with the vibrant culture of Latin America. 

    *Prerequisites: SPANLANG 3 or 2A or place into 2nd year Spanish (12S/13S) | Spring 2025-2026: There is no Spanish prerequisite for the Santiago program.

    This BOSP seminar will provide an in-depth exploration of neuro-ethical issues surrounding life and death in Japan and America. Participants will learn about the medical, ethical, cultural and legal dimensions of brain death and organ donation in two unique cultural contexts.

    This Global Seminar in Shenzhen explores innovation, entrepreneurship, and technology commercialization in “China’s Silicon Valley.” Students will analyze how policy, culture, and markets shape Shenzhen’s entrepreneurial ecosystem through lectures, site visits, and team projects with local peers.
