Approaching Cape Town

Main content start

Arrival

All program participants must arrive in Cape Town and depart on the dates indicated on the Key Dates page.

Airport pick-ups will be arranged for arrival and departure dates of the program.

Accommodation

Program participants live in a self-catering residence in the neighbourhood of Rondebosch. Participants are required to share apartments as single accommodation is not available.   They are housed in two-bedroomed apartments with shared kitchens and bathrooms. Each apartment houses two participants in their own private room. Shops, restaurants and a laundromat are easily accessed from the residence.

Meeting People and Extracurricular Activities

Through classes and organizational project opportunities, students interact with a diverse range of instructors and supervisors.

The residence also houses South African students which presents you with the opportunity to interact with and learn from them.

Trips associated with the Stanford program will give students the opportunity to explore additional locations in South Africa.

City Life

The distinct scenery of Cape Town, from the dramatic coastlines to the striking rise of Table Mountain, makes the city a beacon for nature lovers. Visitors interested in the history and culture of South Africa can visit the many museums, sites of memory and archival resources in the city.
