Passports and Visas

Main content start

You are solely responsible for obtaining your passport and visa (if required). Every BOSP participant must have a signed passport that is valid for at least 6 months after the scheduled return date from the overseas program. Students who do not have a valid passport must apply for a new or renewed passport immediately.

Travel Document Checklist

  1. Confirm that your passport has a valid signature and expiration date. The expiration date must be at least 6 months after the scheduled return date for your program. Some countries have additional requirements, so always check your specific participation requirements. Learn more about passports.

  2. If necessary, obtain a new passport or renew your existing passport. Review the current processing times. You may need to consider requesting expedited services, if you have a short timeline to apply for a passport.

  3. Determine if a visa is required for your program. Learn more about a visa and view links to consular websites.
